President Trump has decided to withdraw America from the Paris Climate Accord, a deal which for the first time in history united all nations in a single agreement to tackle climate change. Getting 200 countries to agree on something was rightly called “amazing” and “historic”. Then along came Trump, clippety clop…and gave the world the big finger. Trump mini-mes will now be able to make even more money messing up the planet. Pity the man who destroys an environmental protection agreement, simply because his energy business “friends” tell him to do it.
As Emmanuel Macron the French president said in April 2018 “Let us face it: There is no planet B. We must find a smoother transition to a lower carbon economy. Because what is the meaning of our life, really, if we work and live destroying the planet, while sacrificing the future of our children?”
Some say we can simply move to another planet. Even if we can – in time – is that really a good approach? Mess up one home and move to another? Aren’t we supposed to be the intelligent species? Or are we all rich oligarchs, free to move wherever and whenever we want?
Pale Blue Dot
In 1990 Voyager I, over 6 billion kilometres out into space, turned round and took a photo of earth. Carl Sagan of Mission Control later said “ Let us cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.”
Let’s work around Trump and his ilk, let’s develop the potentials of earth, and in the process keep it.

Put our planet first, Planet A:  The Pale Blue Dot
